THE FAVORITE MUSIC PRODUCTION TOOLS OF PORKY PAUL

Porky Paul
Please tell our readers a little bit about your background.

I started making music back around 1989 but was the Drummer of a gigging Indie Dance Band, where the Bass & Beat was the back bone of the tunes.

What is your favorite piece of hardware gear to work with and why?
I really like my Roland JD-Xi, It’s got some timeless old school House & Drum sounds.

Is there a specific VST plugin that radically changed your workflow?

[Mix and Master for the listener – directly to Apple, Spotify, DAB Radio and TV specifications, MasterCheck will immediately reveal how your audio is going to sound to the listener, allowing you to produce with confidence and certainty.]

Do you have a specific workflow when it comes to creating tracks. For instance, do you start with a beat or with a melody?
I always start with a funky bass line & then banging drum beat & build and layer from there.

Which aspect of music production do you feel you excel at?
Being a Drummer, I think in particular the Bass and Drum grooves are my strong point.

Your best advice to get that kick drum pounding?
A nice bit of reverb and a nice bit of tight compression.

Out of all the productions you have made, what would be your personal favorite?
I still like Live Life for its feel but there are some really nice, strong tunes to follow.

What is the best advice you have for other producers in the game?
Just keep making Tunes for you & that you like & keep enjoying the process & hopefully an audience will enjoy and follow the process with you.

Is there anything else you would like to share?
With every session try & learn something new.
